What is multimedia?

Multimedia or can we say multiple media? We have two different words that have two different meanings like multiple means that something more that one and media means a tools for delivering information or data from one place to another place and if u combine the two words it will become multimedia which means u guessed it. A more than one way to convey information. It is a combination of text, audio, images, animations, and video to create a content that can convey information.

Why its used?

Multimedia is flexible. It can easily be adapted to different situations and audiences. It can be used for a variety of audiences, ranging from one person to the whole group. It Increases learning effectiveness. It gains and holds attention. It is easy to use and more appealing. It provides high quality of presentations. It is multi-sensorial, integrated and interactive. It covers many visual arts. From mobile phones to blockbuster movies. It covers a vast range. That’s why we use multimedia.

Hierarchy of positions in Multimedia project (Director, Script Writer, Cameramen)

(Director)  : A director is a person from a group of managers who leads or supervises a particular area of a company. For another meaning, it is the person who supervises the actors and other staff in a film, play, or similar production. (Script Writer)  ;A Scriptwriter creates the script/screenplay for the production. They may or may not have been the creator of the original idea but they are contracted by the producer to write a script. The parameters of the job description vary in each type of production. This example is copywriters in the advertising sector have different skills and responsibilities to documentary script writers or those who screenplays. (Camera operator)  : A Camera Operator operates the camera. After choices have been made on color profile, exposure, and gear, the Director directs the operator with the specific framing and movements are needed.

Different between interaction multimedia and multimedia system

Interaction Multimedia:  is media that allow user to control, combine and experienced different types of media, such as text, sound, video, computer graphics and animation. User can use and manipulate one or more of multimedia elements during their experience of using it. Example of interactive multimedia is web application, social media, video games and apps. The purpose of interactive multimedia is to enhance user experience in multimedia Multimedia System:  Multimedia System is traditional media that offer the combination of text, audio, images, animations, and video. Multimedia System is anything that output one of these elements. Example of multimedia : movies, cartoon, YouTube video or presentation slides. The difference = interaction multimedia is an advanced version of multimedia which allow user to engage with multimedia elements with the of computer. Advantages/Disadvantages of multimedia

Advantages of Multimedia  User-friendly/ don’t have to use a lot energy to use it It is a multi-sensory. We using our senses when using multimedia like hearing and seeing. It is a comprehensive and interactive. It is flexible. Digitalization, this media can easily be changed to adapt to different situations and audiences. It can be used for a variety of audiences, ranging from one person to the whole group. Disadvantages of Multimedia  Too much information because it is so easy to use and contain too much information at once this can lead to anxiety. Can lead to health issue like myopia or loss of hearing if using too much or too long.  It can be expensive. The more it offer the pricier it gets Need a powerful computer with large storage There will be Compatibility issues. Because some device does not support a certain features

Medical: The multimedia applications in such as virtual surgeries help doctors to get practical training. Doctors can get trained by looking at a virtual surgery or they can simulate how the human body is affected by diseases spread by viruses and bacteria and then to prevent it. The virtual surgery is authoring system has been created for producing surgical training simulation. The simulator uses a computer screen displaying a three-dimensional graphic of the organs being operated on. Various surgical tools or gloves are connected to motion sensors and haptic or tactile feedback mechanisms where the user can physically feel the difference in simulated tissue and organs. Text As a multimedia option, text can easily be overlooked, but it is still the most fundamental element and most effective way to communicate in multimedia. Text is used as headlines, subtitles, and slogans. It’s purpose is to express specific information or reinforce information in other media. It involves the use of text types, sizes, colours and background colour. For example, you can choose the font and it’s size and colour to set a tone or project an image, or you can choose the mood you want to evoke with background colour. Text can make the intended message you want to convey through multimedia more understandable, it can be used as an alternative in case a digital image is not available in a visitor’s browser, and other media or related information can be accessed by clicking on  text  links.
